Welcome To Turtlecam
Sponsored Links:

After spending a bit of time examining the current living conditions for the turtles, we've decided to take the Turtlecam down. Mr. Marlowe and Mr. Lloyd are getting too large for the tank, and this spring they will be slowly introduced to a garden pond, and will hopefully find a better home there in a more natural environment. We'll post some pictures here as the transition happens, probably in March sometime depending on the weather.
Meet The Turtles:
I realize that I haven't properly introduced our two international stars (we have visitors from all over the world examining our turtles. So, without further adieu, here they are:

Mr. Lloyd
Mr. Lloyd is a Yellow Belly Slider turtle. He was purchased at a pond and garden store in summer of 2008. He's fairly laid back, and likes people for the most part. If you approach the tank, he will swim over to you if he knows you, since people bring him food. If you take him out of the tank, he pulls in his shell somewhat, and that's it. He is named after Harold Lloyd, the early silent movie comedian. He has recently recovered from a fairly severe fungal infection.

Mr. Marlowe
Mr. Marlowe is a Red Eared Slider Turtle, and was purchased in early spring of 2008 from an internet site. He was a small hatchling when we got him, but he has grown rapidly (for a turtle). He is very aggressive towards other turtles, and does not like people at all. He will come to the surface and look at you for short periods of time to see if you have food for him, but then he hides. If you take him out of the tank, he attempts to get away from you, and snaps at you. He is also an aggressive hunter when fish are put in the tank. He is named after the narrator in the Joseph Conrad novella, Heart of Darkness.
The turtles appear to be friends, and it appears that they play. Of course not being an animal behaviorist, I am only guessing.
