Willow Creek Concrete, Versa Lok Manufacturing Plant - Equipment and Building Foundations
Location: Bishop Road, Fairburn, GA
Client: Willow Creek Concrete/Versa-Lok Retaining Systems, Oakdale, MN
Willow Creek Concrete is the parent company of Versa-Lok segmented block, which are used for retaining walls. This plant is a composed of pre-engineered equipment that has to be placed on foundations built on site and designed for local conditions. We performed a site investigation and designed the foundations based on the loads provided by the equipment manufacturer. The primary design concern with these foundations is uplift. To cut the amount of concrete needed down, we designed the foundations to be buried in the ground to make use of the soil weight. The contractor was given an option to use Simpson expansion bolts in the concrete instead of placing conventional anchor bolts before pouring.
In addition to the foundation design, we prepared the design for the segmented block retaining wall loading ramp based on Versa-Lok's suggested installation details (the layout of the ramp was designed by others).
