Residential Structural Design

We have extensive experience with high-end residential structural design.  We've workd with such prestigious Atlanta architectural firms such as Harrison Design Associates, Pak Heydt Associates, and many high quality smaller firms such as The Haralson Group and Enwright Design Collaborative.  We also work directly for many home builders, such as Marchman Homes, Myers Group LLC, and Artisan Homes of Atlanta.  Structural design for high end residential projects is very difficult.  The roof systems are often very complex, the walls don't "stack", and there are usually very wide open spaces on the main and basement levels.  In addition, the design has to be kept simple and within budget.

We've worked constantly to improve our design methods to have higher quality drawings.  We've invested significantly in the best structural software we can find, and our drawings are produced in three dimensions using SoftPlan v14.  Our structural software suite includes Bentley RAM Advanse, WoodWorks, and software produced by the various engineered wood products manufacturers.

In addition, we constantly seek feedback from builders and framers to see how we can improve our designs.  We visit the sites during construction to see how well our details work, and make notes of what we can improve upon. 

Our goal is not just to prepare permit drawings, but designs that can be used effectively to build a high quality structure within a reasonable budget.
